....................... The landscapes of Auvergne are among the most contrasted and the most preserved in Europe. Auvergne has in particular one of the most fertile plains in Europe: Limagne. With the steps of the Limousin, crystalline plates with rounded tops get dressed with forests, moors and pastures and break sometimes into narrow throats where torrents stream. |
|
| ................ Close to Charolais, Beaujolais wine and the river Loire, the plates become mountains. Above them volcanic mounts settled: mounts of the Cantal, mounts Dore, Dômes mounts which culminate in Sancy with 1885 meters, and which gave rise to auvergnal hydrotherapy. This great diversity can be seen in the stones of the cities and their architecture. |
